After transporting our luggage from Darhan to UB, loading up the next truck and getting the van ready, they were off! We waved goodbye as the guys set forth on their great adventure from UB to Hovd.
We did lots of shopping (of course!) and Edie and Averi enjoyed much time together playing make believe and dress up! (Posing in a new fancy bookstore in UB).
The best part of our delay was that Averi's best friend Annika and her family arrived back from America on the day after we were originally going to leave. Soooo....they got to spend an entire day together before we went westward.
Another bonus...Averi prayed and prayed for a Cocker Spaniel puppy. The day before our flight, we found a Spaniel being sold in front of the State department store. After going to the airline to ask permission, going to the Vet to get a puppy passport, and searching and searching for a pet store hidden away in the basement of a huge shopping center to find a kennel, Averi got her wish!
Averi and I boarded the plane and got comfortable in our squishy little seats. The flight was great besides a few bumps along the way. (Much fewer bumps than taking the guys road down below! I kept looking out the window at the vast empty spaces in awe of the very long trip the guys had taken through the wilderness!)
Great Mongolian hospitality served us well. When I opened up our mysterious airline food wrapped in white, I was amazed to find a cold yet surprisingly tasty hamburger topped with cucumbers and tomatoes (at 10 in the morning no less!). Our trip was accompanied by some music as well. While worrying a bit about our new puppy toppling among the luggage in the back of the plane, we sang her new theme song, "Penny Lain" (As she was named after the catchy Beatles tune :) Goes great with her copper color and our last name!)
Best of all, we were greeted in the luggage area with many signs and wonders...our sweet boys using sign language through the glass with wondering faces and jumping up and down for joy to be reunited again! After waiting for our luggage to arrive we would enjoy a quick embrace from our guys and eagerly drive to our new Kazak felt homes. Home at last. Home at last!
