Sorry about no pictures yet. We are still having a few technical difficulties , but we hope to figure it all out within the next few weeks so we can share our pictures with you!
We cannot wait to show you pictures of our ger. We are having so much fun! Our Mongolian host family is wonderful! They are so hospitable and willing to give us anything we need. We are living in our family's yard in a ger. Mom and Dad have 3 daughters: 19, 20 and 24 years of age. The oldest two are married with one child each about a year and a half old. The oldest daughter and her husband live next to the family run store across the street. The other two and the husband and baby live with Mom and Dad in a small 2 room house. Three of our host family members speak some English (they are college students at a technical institute in town). Every night they help us with some Mongolian words and we help them with some English. Quite fun!
We eat breakfast and lunch with our family everyday and get to try out many new foods including some traditional Mongolian meals. We have enjoyed meat pancakes, yogurt, salty milk tea, meat dumplings, many sweet breads, potato, meat, and vegetable soup, fried rice with potatoes and veggies and meat, as well as many other delicious foods. (Please pray for our health, particularly for our digestive systems...lots of tummy aches, except Larry's iron gut, with all these new foods! Also pray for Averi-she is having symptoms of cutting new teeth...headaches, gum pain, stomach aches, etc. We all have had a few tummy aches and sniffly noses. since we moved into the ger.)
We are also living just down the street from another American family on the field. Our kids have been playing together sun up to sun down everyday! They are having so much fun! Averi and Eli want to stay in the ger forever, but that opinion may change when the weather gets colder. As long as our host family is willing, we would love to stay as long as possible. One day at a time...we'll see!
