Thank you for your prayers! Though our belongings may have been thrown all over the place, He alone is our fortress, we will never be shaken! Overall, after moving all of our possessions twice in two weeks and losing almost $2000 worth of our stuff, we praise Him for the peace He continues to give that surpasses all understanding. For in this world we know we will have trouble but we take heart because the Lord has overcome the world!!! Other than being a little tired, we are doing exceptionally well by His grace and we are settling into our old apartment. We thank Him for the victories that He gives...And we thank you for being with us every step of the way! We couldn't do it without you!
Email sent out Tuesday, December 1st:
We came home from our wonderful time of fellowship and food in the capital city greeted with a kiss of betrayal. A broken window, items thrown all over the house and our computer, i-Pod, speakers, blankets, food (including all of our yummy imported stuff, spices, tea, and coffee), pots and pans, coal, a large area rug and other things missing.
A friend gave us this verse to encourage us after hearing of the incident. “Fear not for I have redeemed you. I have summoned you by name you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you, and when you pass through the rivers they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire you will not be burned, the flames will not set you ablaze, FOR I AM THE LORD YOUR GOD THE HOLY ONE OF ISRAEL YOUR SAVIOR.” Isaiah 43:1-3
Although the enemy comes to kill, steal, and destroy the Lord is bigger than our greatest enemy!!! The robber may have taken some of our stuff, but he can't take our love for the Lord! He is our FIRM FOUNDATION! Praise Him that we may be pressed but we are never crushed, persecuted but never abandoned! We sense His presence and peace and we know that He will work all this out for good as He always does. Thanks for your prayers while we wait on Him.
IT COULD HAVE BEEN WORSE!
Our old computer was stolen right after our new one (previously crashed) was resurrected with the help of your prayers and our teammate in UB!
We had most of our electronics with us...projector, camera, new computer, dvd player, etc.
Some of the electronics that were in our house were overlooked...our hard drive, our mac computer, etc.
Doesn't appear that the took many of the kids stuff other than Averi's prized blanket! PTL!!!
They left lots of kitchen stuff behind...a few pots and pans, stove, rice cooker, blender, wok, water boiler...
They didn't steal Krista's jewelry or any of our Kazakh wall hangings, rugs.
They didn't take any of our new warm sleeping bags, furniture, or hygiene products, books, or movies*
*except for our Alias Season 5....rrrrr....we were almost finished with the entire Alias series....bum deal!
So overall, we are very blessed! Most everything that was taken can be replaced other than the quilt that Larry's Mom made us (one of the few sentimental things we brought with us to Mongolia) which I must admit caused me a few tears. Our i-Pod being stolen is a downer but it had lots of worship music on it so maybe our thieves will come to know our Risen Lord through our music! You just never know!!!
The kids are hanging in there. Eli shed a few tears when he realized all our food was gone (poor guy...said he was really mad at the bad guys for taking all our food!) Averi (now known as Nancy Drew) is in hyper-adrenaline mode and talking a mile a minute and telling everyone she knows about this crazy mystery and how she is going to find the robber. ...be careful! You might become a suspect! They keep gasping in fear every time they think of one of their toys that might be missing. So far we have found everything they have been concerned about. We are so thankful for all of your prayers as we process with the kids and figure out where we will live. In the meantime, we are nice and cozy in the guest house (our old apartment). Thanks for praying!!!
