Bath Time!

Averi takes a bath in our ger. She insisted on taking a bath in this bucket even though we had a shorter one (pictured below with the babies) that would have been easier to get all soapy in and then rinse off while standing up.

Larry fits in nicely here...those living in our area on the outskirts of town only take good showers twice a month. The rest of the time they do sponge baths or rinse off in the river (river picture below).

Averi and I have had special treatment a few times. Some of our host family members, Gana and Ulaka, enjoy washing our hair over the bucket with nice warm water heated up by their water boiler.
The babies are all dirty and need to be rinsed off in the bucket. Ba-Ba! (One of our first Mongolian words which means dirty. Sounds like a baby word...so fitting since we are like babies babbling in a foreign language!) At first the babies were a bit timid and scared of us...We probably look like scary white aliens...but when her daddy left to work in the capital for a month, Sarna began getting a bit clingy to Larry like he was becoming her temporary daddy?!

Averi meets one of her first friends in Mongolia by getting in a splashing fight in the river that lasted for a half hour! The young college-aged girl was laughing and having so much fun with our outgoing girl! Averi will have no problem meeting new friends in Mongolia!
