Woohoo! After much deliberation, we finally decided to take the plunge and buy some nice beds while we were in the capital city. First, we went to a HUGE furniture store in UB where they had display upon display of bedroom sets and office furniture just like you would find in America (except the furniture was very gaudy and made of fake OSB boards). Later, thanks to a recommendation from friends, we found a place called the Woodman with furniture made from REAL wood for the same price as the gaudy fake stuff. So....with no more ado....

CALLING ALL GUESTS! We justified this one so that we would have a very cozy guest bed! Of course, we will use it when our guest count is nil! So, Grandparents, it is TIME to come visit your grand-babies! All guests are MORE than welcome! We are very thankful for the queen-size mattress that was indirectly donated to us by some foreigners who moved recently. Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on how you look at it) the mattress didn't fit exactly so we bought the $50 Mongolian mattress as a box spring. Now we have a double-mattress VERY comfortable bed!

Eli's bed was a bit tricky to get into our new home, but with lots of finesse and finagling we managed it! This was also a donation from the same friends of friends. Originally, our friends were going to use it in the community center but it didn't fit up the stairs. Solid wood and imported from Singapore, it is quite a catch! Eli is just happy to graduate from the duffel bag full of sleeping bags as a bed, to a cheap cot we found in the market, to a high quality solid wooden bed! What a steal! (Literally! Still feel guilty for taking it from our teammates. BUT We ARE very thankful to be blessed so much!)

And last but not least....My nesting stage is officially over now that we got a bed for our precious African girl! Originally we were thinking bunk-beds, but when we saw this beautiful day-bed our search was over! Averi is so excited to have a bed to share with her soon-to-be 6/7 year old Ethiopian sister. We are REALLY thinking we will actually get word of court dates this month, which will mean we will travel in late November or December. Please continue to pray that we will be united with our girl VERY soon!
A note to our FAITHFUL Supporters:
Thank you so much for all your generous donations to make these beds possible! Our Field Director recently reassured us that upon coming to the Field a leader of his gave this advice: #1 Don't skimp on food #2 Buy a nice bed and get lots of REST!
After a year of 2 cheaply made broken beds (and for the 2 years before that sleeping on a mat on the floor and then a VERY hard russian fold-out couch) not to mention, my husband's consistently sore back, we are SO VERY THANKFUL for each comfortable night's rest! We can't thank you enough! We believe more rest will bring more fruit! May you be abundantly blessed for your faithfulness!

Awesome! Praise God!! Sleep is very important, but I notice I pray more when I don't get good sleep. LOL I'm not sure why that is, but maybe I'm praying "for" a good nights sleep! =) I'm glad to hear you all have beds!!
